oral devices

I have mild to moderate sleep apnea. I have had UPPP without success. I am using C-Pap with moderate success . . . setting of 6.5. My question is will mandibular devices such as snoregard work either as a backup for traveling or as a replacement for C-pap. Thanks

I have not heard much about snoregard treating sleep apnea. It may help snoring but that is different than sleep apnea. Depending on the site of obstruction you may be a candidate for an oral device (having a low pressure helps). From what I have heard the ones that work the best have to be fitted from a dentist who is very familiar with sleep apnea. The device will move the lower jaw forward. It should not be a fixed device, there should be the ability to have some movement so the device I am describing is not the heat up the mouthpiece in water and bite. This one will cost about 6-8 hundred dollars and you need a sleep study after to see if it works. So it becomes fairly expensive and you do not know if it will work till your done. Start reading up or oral devices, many out there, some work much better than others.
