New to CPAP - Help

I go to sleep at about midnight, letting the machine ramp up..i fall asleep..i do notice that I need to take a deep breath thru my mouth once in a while in order to get a dee breath..otherwise feel starved for a breath.. For Friday and Sat. night, i slept for about 5 hours..waking up at 5AM.. I tried but could nto get back asleep..tied to ramp the pressure up but felt starved for a breath.. Stayed up sice couldnt fall back asleep..during the day, noticed that i wanted to take a nap in the AM and did without CPAP. In addition, all three mornings i have felt bloated as if i was filled up with air...I had to belch and pass gass much more than usual..every day. Would appreciate any feedback you could give me. Oh..I do need fairly high pressure...15cm. Thanks

I had the problem with the ramp pressure feeling like it was too low as well. I've gotten used to it, but generally have to lie still in bed for 5 minutes before I turn it on. I've also learned that on some machines, the low level you get on the ramp setting can be increased. You may want to look into that. As for the bloated feeling and extra gas, I heard that it was a slight mouth leak while the machine was on. Although I wore a chin strap, I was told at the sleep clinic that I occasionally cracked my mouth open once in awhile. I tightened the strap and seem to have resolved the problem. It has been 4 or 5 months since I've had that problem. My pressure is also high (17cm) so whether there is a connection between that and mouth leaks, who knows? Hope this helps and good luck!
