New OSA Patient

I'm recently diagosed with severe sleep apnea. I didn't know what ?'s to ask of my dr, at my f/u appt. How many episodes does is 'require' to have severe sleep apnea? My unit will be here by Friday. I have to have a setting of 10. Is this high? I also have fibromyalgia. Not only am I always sleepy, I'm always hurting. Can someone please help me?

Follow-up 1

You sound a little like I was about 8 months ago when I was finally diagnosed. He are some of the answers that I got. 1. The sleep clinic in Ottawa starts to treat people with 10 apneas an hour. I had an average of 85, which was very high. 2. My pressure is set to 10 also and I have been told that this is in the below average to average range and should not cause any other problems. 3. As for what questions to ask, when I saw the head of the sleep clinic she had a graphical output of both the before and after sleep studies that she when though in great detail. She talked about the oxigen levels, heart rate and rythem, leg movements, levels of sleep, lengths of apneas and the relationship to them to all of the other information on the chart. I really understood the problem of apnea and how it had been effecting my body and emotions after this. 4. Ask about any possible side effects of using the machine and what the doctor wants you to look out for and what do to if you get them. Some side effects you talk to the people who get you the machine and some the doctor may want to know about. 5. Ask about what you and your partner, if you have one, need to look out for to determine if the pressure on the machine needs to be changed. 6. Be patient, put up with the noice, and you will find that your life will be a lot better. I asked my wife to go for a walk the other day. She was thrilled because I have not had the energy to this in years.
