Sleep Apenea and PVC's
Is anyone aware of any information available concerning Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC's) and their relation to Obstructive Sleep Apenea, if any. Thanks for any info provided on this subject.
Follow-up
Premature Ventricular Contractions are abnormal heartbeats. PVCs have very many causes and can occur in normal people. PVCs are considered normal if they occur one at a time every so often. Sometimes PVCs appear in groups and are then considered detrimental. PVCs are more likely to occur in people who have a history of heart attack, conjestive heart failure and/or coronary artery disease. Some studies have shown that PVCs are more likely to occur in association with untreated OSA when the blood oxygen levels are decreased to less than 60%. This does not mean that everyone with decreased blood oxygen will have PVCs and it does not mean that everyone who has PVCs needs oxygen. PVCs can be considered normal as long as they occur every so often and do not appear in groups or "trains".
