Heated Humidifier, United Healthcare & Apria

Went to the doc to get a prescription for a heated humidifier, and thanks to the info on this board, knew to have him add 'medical necessity and estimated duration of use.' Submitted it to Apria, who seemed to be actively trying to discourage me from even trying, who in turn submitted it to United Healthcare. Their first response: "It is a household item, and not covered." It had to be explained to them what it was for. I was suprised today to find that it had been approved, and I should get it soon. I have an idea that it had more to do with the current trouble they are in with the State of California for refusing to pay for prescriptions solely on the basis of cost, but I'll take it just the same. Now may be the time for others out there in Cyberland to submit those requests for heated humidifiers while they are in the 'giving' mood, however reluctantly.
