This is the real world, and the AASM must exist in it. They are definately under pressure. The question is to what extent do they resist, and to what extent do they cave in.

In the real world, failing to go along with a split study may mean some patients get NO study. Therefore, "caving in" will serve the immediate needs of current patients, whereas standing firm would sacrifice the walfare of current patients to serve long-term goals.
