CPAP? I'm not old enough!

Posted by sawzredwoods on August 21, 2002 at 17:26:22:

I recently had my sleep study done and well at 47 episodes per hr. Something has to be done. The Tech did try the CPAP at apprx. 3am (test ended at 5am)with some success(rate dropped to 7 per hr. with 2 successful REM stages)Problem: There is no way that I will go through the rest of my life with that thing on my face! OMG! Yes dear,.. I realize we just married but well... OK... bye bye now? I don't think so! Who in their right mind could find someone who would stick around for more than a minutes worth of laughs with that thing on their face? Seriously, it isn't for me. I have already been traumatized to the point of needing serious mental health insurance coverage and cannot deal with this too! What are my other options besides the UPPP. That doesn't sound too promising. Other surgeries? Meds? Bound hands and a plastic bag over my head? Please! HelP!! All suggestions are welcomed Dr. follow-up right around the corner and I am SURE he will push the CPAP. This isn't an option for me. I scared her to death snoring like a neanderthal and the breathing stops as it was. Can you imagine the look on her face when she wakes up next to that? Spare me the if she cares it won't matter b.s. Face it, it's the real world and this ain't tv.
