Hi RhainyC,

Sound to me like you have at least two problems to deal with.

It isn’t uncommon to have serious leak problems with full face masks. Some FF masks are so badly designed that they can only work for a few percent of the patients. I think they are made for aliens – lol . Some of them have only serious headgear problems and can more or less easily be rebuild to work (for example Mirage). A sweatband in right angel works for me. For more instructions and tips do a simple search at apnea forums.

Mine is now “airtight” but the form isn’t perfect for my face.

Drooling is caused by saliva glands in your mouth. If you’re not drooling with a nasal mask, my guess is that the mask is pressing them or tissues nearby so that they are stimulated somehow.

Anyhow you have to change something with your mask (retention, size, form etc.).

If you can’t make it to work satisfactory, you can always go back to nasal mask and deal with the mouth breathing instead. Taping the mouth works best for me.

Chin straps work for many. If needed, make sure to compensate for the force that might worsen your apnea by moving your chin backwards, by increasing the pressure as much as required.

Personally I prefer nasal mask with taped mouth, but have given up because of too serious problems with nasal congestion. I’ve chosen the least serious problem to deal with.

Be ingenious and you’ll figure it out.

Hope this help, Peter
