Or you could be like me at age 54.
About 18 years ago my wife finally got me to be tested for Sleep Apnea, which came back positive. At the time my insurance would not fund treatment. A year ago, with new insurance, I started on CPAP.
What did the delay cost? Today an enlarged heart (dilated Cardiomyopathy) and an extremely fast totally irregular heartbeat (fast Atrial Fibrillation) which required heart surgery to burn away (ablate) the electrical connection between the upper and lower heart chambers (AV node). This did not fix my heart. It just keeps the upper chamber from randomly firing my heart. I am now being paced by a pacemaker 100 percent of the time and will be on blood thinners (Warfarin) the rest of my life.
My cardiologist says the cause is unknown and might be a virus. I would bet money that it was untreated Sleep Apnea.
Your body, your decision.
