Yes, indeed, this is the real world and not TV. Well, you could fall off a horse like Christopher Reeve. You could be hit by a drunk driver and be unable to get out of bed for the short remainder of your life, as my niece was. You could suffer a cerebral hemorrhage on the basketball court. You could be a movie star and be diagnosed with Parkinson's or Lou Gehrig's disease.

And you think you have so little to offer another person that she would leave because you need a sleep mask? You need to rethink a lot of priorities and be glad it's only a sleep mask that's making you confront all this.

C'mon, this is hardly the worst thing that could ever happen to you. Get a grip. My husband vastly prefers the mask to my snoring and breathing cessation. HE is finally getting a good night's sleep.
