sawzredwoods -
I posted below in response to Chris' post, but forgot to mention a couple things. Everyone's responding to your feelings about CPAP, but no one's talked about alternatives you may want to explore. An oral appliance is always (ok, maybe not always, but often) worth a try, and there are other surgeries besides the UPPP. Check out the non-CPAP forums for more info on these alternatives. Also, it does seem like there are some CPAP machines there are less burdensome/obtrusive and without all that headgear. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to suggest anything, but I can say it's worth exploring your options. And by the way, maybe some therapy wouldn't be such a bad thing to help you get through this. Good luck. I can totally sympathize with what you're going through.
