Final Sleep Study

Posted by AliCat on August 22, 2002 at 11:52:31:

I just went through my 5th (since 10/01) sleep study last night. The one I had in July had me at a setting of 13/10 which was making me sick. I have been using 13/11 which has been doing me well but they said I had to have a sleep study to verify it -- posted previously under title DISCOURAGED about that. Last night they verified it and my setting is 13/11 with no apneas on the BiPAP, heated humidifier. Finally, after all these months (since I first received a CPAP on 12/21/01) it feels like something is working. The first CPAP did get rid of my headaches but I was still exhausted and having health problems. Now I am getting energy and able to do some tasks. I guess it will take time to add up. Too bad there wasn't something "instantaneous" to take that all of a sudden you feel great and everything is back to the way it should be. However I am very happy to be able to get even some things done and even have some energy to think about doing some music or crafts.

It's wierd how one little point can make such a difference!

Thanks for all the postings on this site. I would never have been able to get my headgear adjusted properly without it (that took up to April!), then persist and be switched to the BiPAP and now good settings. It is beginning to look like there is a "light at the end of the tunnel."

Also, thanks for previously encouraging me to get this last study. I dreaded going through it again, but now am very happy that I did. (I even dreamed some during it too!!!)
