Sorry I missed to soap opera here,

Let’s take this step by step.

1) The water canister is dry, clean and without any living organisms to start with. I put water into the canister just before I’ll go to bed. I use tap water. It's good enough for food and drinking. No possible problems so far, right.

2) I switch the electric power on. The water will fast become warmer than my body temperature (BREAS on 9, highest effect). It’s like the liquid, around 60 to 70 percent of your body, when you have very high fever.

Of course I can use lower effect and the water could be cooler than my body, but it’s still the same quality water I had before. I’ve been drinking that water, like millions, all day long for decades without any health problems what so ever. The same should be valid even for you, unless you haven’t been drinking alcohol all your life – lol. What I’m trying to say here is that the water quality is not an issue. The water is exactly as good or bad as it was the second before you put it into the canister.

3) Now it’s time to go to bed and switch on the CPAP. The airflow from it will cooler the water a bit, but the temperature is hold by a thermostat almost the same all the time. The temperature is about the same than I drink my coffee at. But like I said before it’s up to me to choose the water temperature depending how high humidity I prefer. And I love the sauna – lol.

4) In the morning I throw away the remaining water, and let everything dry before reuse. Sometimes I use weak acid to get rid of the mineral layer in the canister.

Remember that the air is filtered very effectively before entering the water canister. In my case first a thick rough and then an anti-allergy fine filter. Only VERY SMALL particles can pass the filter system into the water canister.

The air you’re breathing right now has more germs and particles than the air you’re breathing though a filtered xPAP. Your nose and lungs already have more of these fellows than what you possibly can get from the filtered air passing a heated humidifier.

The scare movie scenario you’re painting might be useful for disobedient kids, but it’s not for real.

"Before CPAP I was always tired, now I sleep all the time", Peter
