Posted by Maestra on August 17, 2002 at 20:54:06:I've had severe snoring for the last 5 or 6 years. Probably hereditary - both my dad and mom were prodigious snorers and nappers. I'm a teacher and when we took the kids to camp, I kept them awake. They were too polite to say anything, but they would tiptoe over and close the door to my room. It got to the point that I would zone out while teaching (how embarassing!), fall asleep in my chair after dinner, and had to stop while driving home. My PCP just told me to get more sleep. Finally I had pneumonia, then about three months later I got bronchitis. PCP sent me to a pulmonologist who diagnosed asthma and sent me for a sleep test. Severe apnea and then CPAP. Before I got my machine I started searching for information and found sleepnet. Thank you all, especially Sandman, the old-timers and Joe the CPAPman. Because of you I could deal with the machine on the first night and have been on the upswing ever since. One retitration and higher setting has just kept me keepin' on. God bless!
