Auto Adjust LT ??

I have a Auto Adjust LT and when I got it the sleep doc. set it at 7 to 20 and said this would take care of my apnea.
BUT when I look at the data from the download my Avg. is always 9.80 to 10.30 and the high has never went past 13.90
I have heard a lot of people on this forum say that a auto cpap should not be set that far apart. but when I ask the sleep Doc. about it he just says thats way it's a auto cpap so that it can go up or down to meet your needs.
Is this right or wrong does anyone know?
