You didn't say where you're from, but the name "bagpipes" implies the U.K., especailly Scotland. I assume that they don't charge VAT on medical equipment. My understanding of the U.K. system is that you will be put to the head of the line if the matter is urgent.

In the U.S. you have some of the best and some of the worst healthcare in the world. It depends on your insurance, and there may be regional components too.
