Humidification FF vs Nasal Pillows

Posted by Rested on September 29, 2002 at 13:09:30:

I have been using the ADAM CIRCUIT nasal pillows for 8 months and recently have switched to Resmed FF mask due to nasal surgery. When using the nasal pillows I can only turn my heated humidifier up to a setting of 2, anything above this I get excessive amount of rainout. But when using the FF mask I can set the heated humidifier well above 3 without any rainout what so ever.

At a setting of 2 the humidifier only uses a little less than half of the water in the chamber (that is with nasal pillows). With a setting above 3 it uses 3/4 or more of the water in the chamber when using the FF mask.

Does anyone know why that you can turn up the setting on the humidifier when using the FF mask verses the nasal pillows and without the rainout?
