The mask was made to be used with the diffuser, so I'd imagine the pressure will be too low if it's off. Didn't it come with an extra diffuser cover? I'm suprised you think the Aclaim is noisy. I always thought the exhalation ports of masks were noisy and disturbed me with the air hitting me or my pillow. But the Aclaim doesn't do that at all. It's actually very quiet, and I can't feel the air blowing at all. Maybe your diffuser wasn't on properly.

All these little parts can be purchased by the bag, like 5 or 10 at a time. I haven't had my glider break yet (4 months so far). Seems some people have trouble with em' and some don't. Compare prices on the net, and get some extras.
