The wife of a friend was very obese. She had a gastric bypass and lost over 100 pounds. She had been on CPAP a couple of years and was able to go off completely after the weight loss.

After a little over a year my pressure was reduced from 15 to 11. I don't know if that is "getting better", but it was a nice change.

I am not overweight and expect to be on CPAP the rest of my life. No big deal - on CPAP no one needs to know but your spouse and immediate family. OSA is treatable, you could have something far worse. Did you know that Lou Gherigs (ALS) patients are on CPAP 24 hours a day in the advanced stages?
