Good point. As you point out, the carbon dioxide would be diffused in a larger volume and quite likely would require more "overflow". You are a patient man. Many of us engineers get so involved with the technicality of the problem that we forget the original goal. I sometimes hear "who cares? Does it work?" Thanks Tom
