I was dx with both osa and csa about 40 months ago. Although I have some other medical conditions for which I totally rely on my docs, sleep apnea is different. I found the forum the first week and became very interested in the condition. I have learned much, picking up a lot from this forum.
A lot of the information I share is from various medical studies, manufacturers web sites, sleep industry information, etc. Some is from personal experience by myself or that reported by others, and in many cases a concensus of many individual reports (anecdotal info, of course).
There is much that I pass on that is from forum sources. I have had discussions or shared info with many people both on line and off including sleep professionals (respiratory therapists, sleep technologists, doctors) doctors in non sleep fields, sleep center directors, and a lot of people who live with this condition.
The information in the post I mentioned is accepted medical information most of which was reported on this forum by a very qualified sleep professional. It is good informaiton, and it does work, from personal experience. When I was dx'ed, I had many problems (sleep apnea stuff) from which I never expected to recover. A large part of which were various cognitive functions. I had beens a person well respected in my industry in management and or ownership who was on a rapid slide downhill and pretty much at the bottem. I no longer had the ability to do even a small part of what I had done before.
I am happy to say that I have came back from down there, and am regaining so much of what I had lost. I'll probably never get it all back, but I am so happy where I'm at. It has taken awhile, but it is well worth the effort. You do have to work at it.
