I don't know where you heard this one. I've been using CPAP successfully for over three years. If xPAP is not working you can discontinue it (if it is working, you won't want to discontinue). Contrast this to surgery. Surgery cannot be reversed if the results are unsatisfactory. CPAP - or Bi-PAP or Auto-PAP - should be tried first.

BTW, don't even attempt xPAP without a heated humidifier. The built-in variety is better for travel, and more convenient in general.

The one thing to remember is that if you discontinue xPAP, you'll revert to your former symptoms very quickly.
