Streaming cold what to do ?

I realize it's a daft question and in many ways the answer is obvious but I'll it ask any way.What is conventional wisdom about the common cold I've had the exploding nose yesterday and today it's a bit more settled but if it follows the usuall course it'll be week or so before I feel human again.(I understand the legend that men are babies about colds) but until symptoms subside surely it's unwise to persist.
I am having trouble getting an efficient run of use when I do get a few good nights together I feel so much better.
