Bipap or Auto pap needed?

Posted by lauralee on October 18, 2002 at 06:28:20:

When I originally went to get my Cpap I was unable to exhale, so they called my Dr to advise him that I needed a Bipap. He instead prescribed an AutoPap. When I called yesterday to see if it had been delivered, I was told that an Autopap it probably "wouldn't" work in my case because it would still have the continuous pressure when I exhaled, whereas a Bipap wouldn't and that I would probably end up with a Bipap anyhow. I though the Autopap was a new product that takes care of all this inhaling and exhaling, so the problem would be avoided. When I left after my trial for the Cpap my chest hurt from trying to breath out at a 10 presssure. Which is the best machine when you have a problem exhaling. Lauralee
