Welcome to the bizarre world of DME. Unfortunately very few DME companies have actual sleep technologists working for them. Most have respiratory techs with little or no training in sleep medicine. Most DME companies also have a limited selection of equipment, or have exclusive contracts with manufacturers.

When you add up all the different mask types, sizes, adapters, headgear, etc. there are way over 2000 combinations. If your DME can't / won't get you what you need, you need to change DME's. If you're insurance carrier requires you to use this specific DME, contact your state office of insurance commissioner and file a complaint.

Remember, if you end up paying for a mask you need yourself, it will be much less than what the DME charges for insurance. For instance, from the sleepmall you can find the complete Adam circuit package with the special headgear, adapter, etc for about $155. Our local DME dealers are billing insurance about $250 and that does not include the angle adapter or custom headgear.
