Finding a sleep doctor

Posted by duffmeister on October 18, 2002 at 15:15:17:

This is my first post. I've learned a lot from lurking here for the past three weeks. I'm on day 23 of CPAP, and feel like things are going pretty well.
My question is: how do you find a good sleep doc? My internist/family doc recommended the sleep study at a regular physical and next thing I know I'm found to have severe OAS, and looking for help from places like this forum. I'm just not sure that my doc is really a sleep guy and he's fearsomely busy, so what's the best way for finding such a person? Or should I give my doc the benefit of the doubt since he did recommend the study?
Thanks to all.
