Hi,

I think it's a very important issue - never 'settle' for a doc. I wasted months seeing a pulmonologist who had me on CPAP wondering why it wasn't working, before dumping him and getting a board-certified doc who told me I never should have been on CPAP in the first place (being 22 and not overweight.)

Get a board certified doc - you can have good non-certified ones, but why take the chance? You can find listings at:

http://www.absm.org/Diplomates/listing.htm

You want a doctor who cares about YOU, accepts and answers your questions, and will focus on the specifics of YOUR case - not that of the 'typical' sleep apnea patient. Someone who treats individuals, not conditions.

Good luck.

Rich
