NasalAire problems

Posted by half-pint on October 19, 2002 at 07:42:54:

Hmmmm, this looked like such a good idea on posts, etc. Tried the device at the sleep clinic during the day, size medium. Seemed OK but they thought I needed smaller and did not have one for me to try. I don't remember leaks. but I do remeber left side felt sort-of "folded", I suppose due to deviated septum.

They ordered it and heated humidifier for me, with instructions to fit me. Well, there was a back-up the day I could come to the DME (I work 30 minutes away) so they ended up "fitting me" in the lobby with no machine.

Tried it two nights. I get a leak out of my left nostril. The nose piece detaches from the tube in "settling in" movements in bed, unless the "bolo" is so loose that tubing flops. The tubing feels pretty funny coming out of the top of my head and pretty stiff when turning. I end up waking up and taking it off and returning to my other mask.

Do I need to go in for a fitting with medium? Can I tape the nosepiece to the tubing? Any other suggestions?
