Hmmm. Let's see if I can help some . . . I'm no expert but I have been using the NasalAire for awhile. Last night I had problems and noticed this morning that I didn't have it positioned properly. So I'm learning.
As for the deviated septum, I don't know if this is a problem or not, but I guess you'll find that out in time.
The best way to fit is with your machine on. First just try putting in the nosepiece alone, holding your fingers over the parts where the tubes fit and breathe. If you get leaking it's probably too small. Then try putting the tubing on and finding a way to fit it on your head. First of all, the exhalation ports should point toward your chest or abdomen. You can also adjust the placement of the tubing where it fits onto the nosepiece. I find it most comfortable and secure if I have the tubing either behind or on top of my ears with the velcro strap at the base of my head in the back and if I move the front Velcro piece up it makes the tubing tighter. You need to work with the Velcro a bit to find a comfortable and secure placement, but nothing should be coming out the top of your head. The bolo should be basically on your chest, the tubing over your cheeks and ears, and the Velcro in the back should keep the tubing separated, not pulled tight together.
Hope this makes some sense to you.
