I have been on cpap a little over 3 weeks now, and I think this last week has been the best. I tried the Breeze nasal pillows at first and got terrible sores around the edge of my nose, so I went to a Profile Lite mask and I love it. It does leave a sore spot on the bridge of my nose and I have adjusted it as much as possible, but it is something I can live with. I do not have pesky leaks and my mouth also stays closed. I did have a few nights where I woke up and my mask was off, not sure how! But I think my brain has accepted the fact that I must keep this thing on. Also my husband told me that I do not move or make a sound at night anymore. I was also a very restless and very NOISY sleeper. He said the first night that I sleep well he thought that I was dead! He actually sat watching me to make sure I was breathing. I had a turbinectomy done yesterday on outpatient basis. The dr kept me in the hospital most of the day on oxygen just to make sure I was breathing all right. Unfortunately I am real congested right now and can't breathe thru my nose well at all. And I can't blow my nose for about a week! So I did not get to sleep with my machine last night and I could definitely tell a big difference. The dr said I could try to sleep with it, but I do not have a full face mask. So, I guess I will be waiting for this to heal and then see how things go. I am not in a lot of pain today, I was yesterday and all I can say is Thank God for demerol!! The nurse was very nice about keeping me well medicated :).
