I've tried to communicate that one should not start with a full face mask. It’s OK if you find that you need it, but you shouldn't ordinarily start with one.

The reason you've been sleeping with your mouth open is because you could not breathe through your nose. With CPAP, your mouth stays closed because you are able to breathe through your nose. Breathing through your nose is generally regarded as healthier, so that’s the objective.
