Mouth Breathers

Posted by jackmill on November 07, 2002 at 09:24:26:

I was having problems with air escaping from my mouth and like many of you I tried many different methods of curing the problem. None of them worked until I got the idea of making a gag out of an ACE bandage, the stretchy kind like used on a sprained ankle. One roll of ACE bandage makes several gags. I measure by slightly stretching the bandage across my mouth and around my head leaving 2 inches to spare. Then using a large saftey pin I pin the bandage at the joint. This makes the gag. You will have to experiment with sizing. I like my gag to be snug but not tight. This completely solved my mouth breathing problem. My pressure is 12 inches water column. Use the good quality bandage there might be some thin stuff on the market that won't hold air. I have been using these gags for three years now. I have about six gags so I don't have to wash one every day. I also use a chin strap in conjuction with the gag to stablilize everything. This combination had worked with excellent service.
