Why am I leaking air?

Posted by schnozzle on November 07, 2002 at 11:46:24:

I've been on CPAP for a couple of weeks now and am starting to get used to it but there is one thing that keeps bothering me. I'm using a nasal mask and it seems like every night is a new adventure. Some nights it fits fine and I don't get any leaks. Other nights, like last night, it seems to leak and blow air at my eyes and no amount of adjusting will stop the leaking. Then the next night everything works fine again. This is becoming my biggest frustration. I have a follow up with my ENT in early December and I'm stuck with this mask until then.

For those who have been doing this for a while is there anything I can do to ensure that I get a good seal every night? I don't understand why it works fine one night but not the next.

Thanks and yes, I'm already feeling better since starting on CPAP and my wife tells me my snoring and apneas have stopped! My CPAP is set at 8cm H20 if that helps.

Thanks again, I'm glad I found this group.
