You did not mention whether or not you were given a HEATED humidifier with your CPAP machine. If you do not have one, it might be that the dryness from the blowing air is adding to the problems you have experienced. On those few occasions since I have used my CPAP (3.5 years now) when I forget to turn on my humidifier, the dryness in my nose is very uncomfortable and causes all sorts of symptoms. The humidity from the humidifier cancels out the congestion and makes it easy for me to breathe.
