Can't sleep w/o CPAP, PERIOD!!!

Posted by Phil Stocker on November 26, 2002 at 07:46:34:

I have been using my CPAP now for about 1.5 years, and even though it has helped me with my sleep (or lack of), I have had quite a few negative effects. The worst I described beloq with the ringing in the ears. Second runner up, and sometime even more bothersome is the fact that I cannot sleep, AT ALL, with out that CPAP machine. I cannot even so much as nap for 5 minutes without jerking awake because my airway is closing. This makes it impossible for me to go anywhere without it. I don't like wearing the CPAP at anyones house (if I ever decided to spend the night) because it looks horrible. My life has definetly taken a turn for the worst, socially speaking, now that I have to wear that mask whenever I sleep.

Actually, now that I really think about it, this does bother me more so than the ringing in my left ear. It depresses me, and affects just about every aspect of my life. Even though I don't snore anymore, and sleep better, this is not how God intended us to be. I find myself being extremely jealous of people who can sleep as sound as a baby and not snore or anything when they sleep. I used to be that way too, I want it back. I cannot see myself wearing this God-forsaken piece of crap every night for the rest of my life, no-way!!

Thanks for listening.
