I guess the $64,000 question is...does you husband experience extreme fatigue and tiredness?

I'm surprised that the doctor went to the step of banning driving on the basis of an observation of sleep apnea. My wife, an RN, maintained that I suffered from sleep apnea, but it took 10 years (of increasing fatigue) and 3 sleep tests before the condition was diagnosed.

In my case, the sleep specialist I saw noted "He [i.e. me] acknowledged excessively sleepiness [his english, not mine] while driving however he did confirm safe driving with no recent history of motor vehicle accidents." in his report. He did not ban driving or directly caution me, but then, I don't drive for a living, and can be (and have been)as selective as necessary as to when I drive.

I'll be curious to her what others say about getting disability. The good news is that the fix (CPAP) while not pretty is highly effective, so hopefully disability won't be the outcome. I was downsized early in the hi-tech downturn, and hardly pass a day when I don't wonder what part my fatigue played, and whether there was a extended sick leave / disability option that I should have pursued.
