Are these symptoms normal w/OSA?

Posted by Moviesleeper on November 27, 2002 at 06:43:44:

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in August of 2000. I have used my CPAP religiously every night since then. I noticed a remarkable change in the way I felt, no more headaches, no more waking up to go to the bathroom, etc... When I was diagnosed I would fall asleep at the drop of a hat in the car (as a passenger) and even at work I would have a hard time paying attention and would nod off occasionally. I have not had these problems for nearly two years, but lately I've noticed this happening again. I have been under a lot of stress lately and I'm wondering if my problem is related to my sleep apnea or if it's something else. I know I am not snoring, but could I still be having apnea episodes without snoring?

Also, I cannot stay awake for anything during a movie, especially if the lights are off. I also fall asleep immediately when I go to bed (I would say in less than 30 seconds.) and I rarely wake up until the alarm goes off. Are these symptoms that a person always has? Are sleep apnea patients prone to these problems? I was recently diagnosed with mild Asthma due to allergies and I'm wondering if this could be a problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...surely someone else experiences these problems.
