To SGS, What a great letter. You expressed my thoughts very expertly. See my posts under weight gain in the past 3 days. Let me get personal and ask your opinion. I am 55 and recently diagnosed with severe OSA. I am 6 feet 3 inches and weigh 240. 10 yrs ago I weighed 180 and climbed Mt. McKinley. I have a fairly sedentary lifestyle due to unsuccessful eye surgery which forced me to stop playing tennis. Plus I sit behind a desk all day and don't exercise. The prospect of living the rest of my life with CPAP is depressing despite the fact that I have adjusted well to it and recognize that it is saving my life. But I will never be able to backpack away from a car battery or climb another mtn.unless I can eventually wean myself off of CPAP. I believe that IF I can lose 30-40 lbs that my OSA will disappear and CPAP won't be required. I realize this will take at least a year and must be a permanent part of a life style. Your thoughts?
