Posted by kooledd on November 27, 2002 at 09:05:24:I attended a sleep apnea forum meeting last night. A sleep
doctor specialist spoke to us. A question from the group was
about anything new to help us on CPAP's.The doctor said there is research being conducted on a "pill." Our throat tissue gets soft and floppy and when we sleep it sags, cutting off our air flow. Doctors are looking into a pill that would strengthen tissue and prevent it from sagging ( I guess that would be throughout
the body.) Anyway, it was an interesting concept. The bad
news is that they are years away from having anything like
this available. They are still experimenting- as the doctor
said- probably not in our lifetime (if you are a senior) but
maybe one day.Wouldn't that be a great thing to have. A pill a day and no
more apnea plus no more lugging your CPAP around.
