1. "Promise of Sleep" by Dr. Dement will be a wealth of information for you (available in paperback for less than $20).
2. The legal ramifications of driving should not be underestimated. Especially after a Dr. has made that diagnosis. Mn. Sen. Paul Wellstone died in a plane crash just before the election. Sunday reports of pilot fatigue surfaced in the newspaper. See post below.
3. Consider legal advice now. No one else will be on your side. Legal help is needed to deal with SS and employers. Just using the word "disability" instead of disabled can cause all kinds of trouble.
