I was at a pressure of 15. My experience with an ENT was that he recommended the UPPP. He said it was not major surgery, BUT I would have to spend the first night after surgery in intensive care. Just a precaution in case all my airways swelled shut, or unexpected bleeding! Then he described the recovery process. That did it for me, no surgery.
I have been on CPAP two years with great success. Yes, it took me about three months to get adjusted (no humidifier, heated humidifier - and three different mask, and four different nasal pillows). For me the trial and error has been worth it. As others suggested get another surgical opinion, and give CPAP some time. Ask the all ENT people you visit what their definition of long term successful surgery is. Ask how many of their patients go back on CPAP. You may find their definition of long term success is very different than what you may be assuming it is.
