Hi Sleepy Coote,

My ENT recommended that I apply it with my index finger. It does not need to be pushed far up into the nasal passages, right inside the base of the nostrils is fine. When you breathe, enough will be taken up into your nasal passages to keep you well moist. It not only has moisteners but has a nice cooling effect that seems like it opens things up.

I would definitely ask an ENT before applying this with a Q-tip as going to far up might be dangerous. My rule is no further up than I can put my index finger. Try this and see if it helps.

Good luck.
