Frequency of Buying New Mask, etc.

How often does everyone buy new headgear/mask/tubes/humdifier chambers???? I don't really know what is recommended. I have been getting all new stuff about every 6 months. Haven't had a problem with the insurance company denying it. Although the insurance company wouldn't tell me how often I could replace the items. They only say, "As needed." Which could be good, I guess. Of course, the mask cushion turns colors after only a couple months. Thanks in advance!
