In my case, due to what I would call 'creeping fatigue', I went through sleep tests about 10-12 years ago, 4 years ago and 3 months ago. The first two did not show sleep disturbances in sufficient severity to warrant treatment. Between the 2nd and 3rd, I had my septum straightened; the 3rd sleep test showed more events, such that CPAP was prescribed.

I don't think for a minute that there was a cause/effect, but I would say that it clearly didn't help!
