Can't get through the night...

Posted by SlimSleepy on December 20, 2002 at 06:38:27:

I've had my CPAP now for 2 nights. The first night (Weds) I slept from about 10pm to 2am, then again from 4-6am. Those 6 hours were the best quality sleep I've had in 10 years. I woke up feeling refreshed and alive. I had no idea what I'd been missing! I know I need a little more than 6 hours though because I started feeling tired during the late afternoon/evening.

On night #2 (last night), I slept from 11pm to 2am. Then again from about 5-6:30am. I awoke feeling like I used to (tired and run-down). I'm finding that I awake each night around 2 or 2:30am and can't get back to sleep for several hours. Once I wake up at 2amish, my body tells me that I need to go to the bathroom (but I don't go very much). When I try to fall asleep again, I find that my mind is awake and it starts racing with tons of thoughts. Does anyone else have the same problem? I've tried relaxation techniques, but have not yet been successful.

I also have a major neckache today, as I did yesterday. It resonates at the base of the skull. Anyone know why that might be?

I'm not sure what kind of machine I have, but the titration setting is 9 with a 45 minute ramp up from an initial 4. I hit the ramp up button several times between 2 and 4am to try to decrease the air pressure while I attempt to get back to sleep. I have a heated humidifier set at 1 (out of 5).

Thanks for your help.
