Burping All Night Long

Posted by AnneL on December 20, 2002 at 07:31:24:

Newbie with ResMed AutoSet Spirit with heated humidifier and Mirage Ultra Nasal Mask, which by the way is so much more comfortable in my opinion than the Profile Lite. Problem: I kept swallowing air and burping all night long!
I guess it is a good thing that I was burping because I did not get any gastric problems. I guess this is termed Aerophagia. What do I do? I think my RT did not set up the machine in the VPAP mode and it is straight CPAP with a ramp of 4 going to 9 cmH20. What are my options to get over the swallowing of air. I actually was able to tolerate the whole set-up on my first night for about 5 1/2 hours. Would have been great had I not been continuously burping. Thanks for any and all replies! :) Anne
