New to OSA and Allergies

Posted by Ernstein on December 20, 2002 at 17:35:24:

I was diagnosed with severe OSA about 4 months ago, found this site the same day, and have spent many hours educating myself at the expense of those who went before. My heartfelt thanks to all who have educated me, thus far.

I started treatment three months ago, 17cm H2O, and about one week into it, had my FIRST EVER allergy symptoms: felt as though some tiny, 1000 legged spider had crawled up my nose and was doing a continuous dance up in there somewhere. I had a stuffed up, nose dripping four days, then the next day I was fine, as though it had all been a bad dream. Two days later, same thing for one day... Anyway, over the last three months, I have had 8 or 10 days here and there like that. I thought maybe it was related to the additional air pressure in my nasal passage from CPAP, making it easier for the allergens to make a home there, but don't know. I didn't find any posts here that would lead me to believe that this is a common side-effect of CPAP, so thought I would ask yall for opinions.

BTW, my Respironics has heated humidifier and fine air filter. Thanks for any words of wisdom.
