My home care tech told me about Ponaris. It's not available OTC maybe because it's expensive at $11 for a small bottle and dropper, so they keep it behind the counter. If you ask the pharmacist it's available without a prescription.

I drop a very small amount one or two drops in my palm and use either my finger tip or you could use a cotton swab tip to apply to the inside of your nostrils. It's an oil based product so it stays put there. It's camphorated and is like Vicks only more effective and less strong. Worth a try and it won't mess up your humidifier. Look it up on the web for ingredients etc. Hope this helps.
