My first Profile lite was also the type you had. Just when I got used to it (moving the hose around to keep the air from blowing on the pillow, etc.) the forehead pad broke off and I had the mask replaced with the new type. There is indeed an exhaust port on the front of the elbow above the hose attachment. The only thing different is that it now blows the air downward (dang!) and I had to get used to that again.
