head gear hurts ears

Posted by Maggie on January 17, 2003 at 06:42:27:

I have adjusted nicely to my mask in the two months since diagnosis, but the head gear seems to be ill fitting, the top straps ride off the top of my head, so I wear them down toward my neck. Handled that problem. The problem is the lower strap. It rides UP at night, folding my ear (I sleep on my side) and it HURTS! If I carefully place the straps over my ear lobes to keep this from occuring, the strap pushes at the little piece of cartilage that is in front of the ear, causing it to push on the matching bump in the ear, and the pain wakes me. I generally remove the mask at this point. Am I a loner here? Any suggestions from others? I have thought about cotton balls for padding, but fear that they will just be worse.
